About me

The top of Mount Fuji, 2015

My name is Molly. Hi.

Firstly, I just want to say thank you for taking the time to have a look at my little website and see what I'm up to. It has been an idea in the making for a long time and I'm so happy that it's finally here for others to read my story.

I'm a student at The University of Edinburgh studying Japanese. In my third year, I'll be heading to Japan for a year long exchange programme at Okayama University. While I plan on studying hard, my goal is to practice my Japanese in a practical environment rather than being stuck in a classroom (I'm actually very good at going to university and rarely skip, I promise). I want to use what I learn in class and be able to apply it while I'm out there actually seeing more than the pages of a textbook. You could say I've got the travel bug.

I've never really done what everyone else does - case in point studying Japanese as a degree! When my godmother suggested turning my experiences of my year abroad into a blog to share with my friends and family, I thought it would be a fantastic opportunity to combine my love of writing, photography, culture, language and people into an interactive diary. Admittedly, it's a great way to not have to retell stories to each relative as it's all there to see, but in reality, this is a project I know I'm really going to enjoy. It will be my go to on quiet days, inevitable lonely days, and when I'm feeling far, far, away from home, I can read over all the incredible experiences and remind myself that I literally have the world left to explore.

And that is what I intend on doing.
